Today, more and more Long Island homes are having Surveillance (CCTV) DVR systems Installed, than back in the 1970’s. Crime is on the rise and people want to have a chance in catching the suspect(s) and protecting their valuables. When picking out Long Island home security cameras or Surveillance (CCTV) DVR systems, the average homeowner or business owner can become intimidated by what is now available in the marketplace. Networks by Design has many years of experience with DVR installations and Troubleshooting Surveillance (CCTV) DVR systems, that most professionals in the field don’t have. Home security cameras and home surveillance (CCTV) DVR equipment are quite different compared to business Surveillance (CCTV) DVR systems. Home Surveillance (CCTV) DVR systems are based on the wireless coverage installed in the customer’s building and property. While business class surveillance (CCTV) DVR Systems are wire based (hard wired). Each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. Depending on the customer’s needs there may be times when Networks by Design may install a Business class Surveillance (CCTV) DVR system inside a customer’s home. Usually, it is based on, if the customer is having construction at the time of security camera installation. Networks by Design will always recommend a wired security setup over a wireless security system, however, if the walls are closed up (post construction) it is oftentimes much harder to run wires.
What are Nanny Cams and Hidden Cameras?
These devices are usually all hidden cameras and are designed for indoors only. They are designed for protecting your family from other family members and/or outsiders. These devices come in many different shapes and sizes and are built to be installed as a decoy. Depending on the device, they either store footage onto a Solid State Device and/or upload the footage over wireless.
Networks, will recommend for our customers to have more than one DVR/NVR system. By installing cameras on the outside of your house, may bring some unwanted visits to your doorstep. If the Police are called into your neighbour, don’t be surprised a knock on your door step. Once the State finds out about your DVR/NVR system, you might be summoned for the footage in question.
What does DVR/NVR mean?
DVR (Digital Video Recorder) – Usually these devices have a BNC connection on the back of them and are limited up to 30 frames per second. These devices are out-dated technology and are not a good choice for Clarity.
NVR (Network Video Recorder) – These devices record from IP cameras. Depending on the NVR, a NVR can have the cameras connect directly to the NVR or a NVR records from the Cameras found on the network. Since the cameras and the NVR communicate with each other over Ethernet, High Output Bandwidth is required. Networks by Design, Recommends that any NVR devices stays separate from your Internet Network. Failure to due so, may result in corruption of data. NVR is a fairly newer technology compared to the DVR system. The reason why you would want a NVR system over a DVR system is for clarity reasons. The common results is when reading a car’s license plate. Since the NVR has better Clarity, you will be able to read a License plate from a NVR footage, making catching the thieves easier to track down.
